The Story of The Old Caravan...

Here is the old caravan, which we inherited with our plot.  I tried long and hard to identify it.  The upshot is that it could have been any of the following (or a combination of any or all of them):-

A wartime observation trailer

A wartime medical trailer (it had a built in sink and water tank)

A mobile wartime radio post

A road menders trailer, possibly towed behind a road roller

... ‘tho I never had a definitive answer. Sadly, the manufacturers plate was missing off the chassis.  It seems to have been here for about 30 years or so.  Tires were still pressurised!

The interior looking towards the back, inc enameled tin sink and galvanised built in water tank (centre, on floor)...

What turned out to be a caravan dealers plate fixed to the interior near the door...

Underneath the wallpaper... “Sky diving is the NEW...” new?... suggesting use on an airfield around the 60’s (or whenever sky diving was ‘new’)...

The tow hitch...

... and the underside showing the axle, etc...

Well, we managed to find a home for it on eBay and Mick and Cara took it away on the back of a low loader, renovated it ....

and converted it into...

a Red Cross tea wagon!

Milk and one for me, please!
